Welcome to St. Thomas School! I am pleased to welcome you to the STS website and invite you to linger a while, exploring the rich information our site has to offer. We have worked hard to capture a small part of our warm, welcoming environment and unique characteristics that are hallmarks of our school.
As one of the oldest independent schools on the eastside of Lake Washington, STS has a proud tradition of academic excellence and a commitment to nurturing each child’s character and spirit. STS is non-sectarian, and provides a cognitively challenging, engaging learning environment. STS is committed to educating the whole child, from age 2 ½ through Sixth Grade.
St. Thomas School began in 1951 with a class of 17 students. Today, we boast an enrollment of over 240 students. The state-of-the-art campus provides an innovative and dynamic learning environment, purposefully designed to support the educational program. Our campus is aesthetically stunning, and provides unique learning spaces such as a science lab, technology center, media publishing lab, library/multi-media center, a dedicated foreign language classroom, music room, and four plazas to support collaboration and research. Our LEED Gold certification is a public statement about the school’s commitment to the environment.
Our most important resources are the dedicated educators who strive to implement an enriching curriculum that embraces core academics, the development of character, and a broad exposure to the fine arts, foreign language, technology, and physical education. The school’s outstanding early childhood and elementary educators form a unique team that is dedicated to the care and education of preschool-age children through pre-adolescence. Gathered together from across the globe, over 70% of the faculty hold advanced degrees.
We are proud of our students! St. Thomas School graduates are consistently accepted to outstanding independent and public schools where they continue to achieve academic success and demonstrate strong leadership skills. Our students are well known for their poise, confidence, and solid academic preparedness.
