The St. Thomas School Auction: Soaring!
The 2007-2008 St. Thomas School Auction took place on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at the Museum of Flight, Seattle. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and winning bidders, we raised over $500,000 in support of our educational program.
Many parents credit the Auction as their introduction to the fulfillment of volunteer activities at STS. It is also an important way to involve people who are not part of the immediate school “family.” Parents, relatives, staff, and friends turn out for a gala evening of good food, lively entertainment, and an opportunity to support the school through a targeted fund-raising opportunity.
While the Annual Fund is the primary source of dollars for annual operations, the Auction also supports the school’s programs. In celebration of the distinctive quality of a St. Thomas education, and to support the vital components that create and sustain this fine school, a portion of the dollars raised at the 2007-2008 Auction were contributed to the operating budget, which pays for all aspects of teaching and learning, including faculty and staff salaries and professional development, student financial aid, the educational program, classroom materials, library books, and facilities maintenance.
The flexibility of unrestricted funds will make it possible for the Head of School and his administrative team to be responsive to the school’s emerging needs. Unrestricted operating funds will ensure that St. Thomas School goes from great to greater.
