compass pointing to the word "Future"
Rebecca Andrew

Dear St. Thomas School Community,

I hope this message finds you well. As we continue our journey to find the next head of St. Thomas School, I am pleased to share the latest developments in our search process.

Community Engagement Recap

Firstly, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of you who participated in the recent community engagement initiatives. DRG Talent's visit to our school was a significant milestone in our search process. Many parents, faculty members, and all our senior administrators engaged in thoughtful discussions with the DRG team. Additionally, DRG spent the morning of the board retreat working closely with our trustees. The breadth and depth of these interactions have been truly invaluable.

Furthermore, I am thrilled to report that 112 people responded to our community survey. DRG found your insights, perspectives, and expectations both enlightening and encouraging, painting a vivid picture of the qualities you value in our next leader.

Opportunity Statement and Search Committee Update

Using the feedback gathered, DRG is currently crafting an Opportunity Statement. This document will not only highlight the unique aspects of St. Thomas School but will also delineate the key qualities we are seeking in our next head of school. Once finalized, it will be shared with prospective candidates and posted on both the STS and DRG websites.

I am delighted to announce the appointment of additional members to our search committee. They are:

  • Jane Fellows, kindergarten teacher
  • Karen Mathewson, director of the Middle School and school parent
  • Emma Rehrl, third grade teacher
  • Haiyong Wang, school parent

Each member brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the future of our school. I am grateful for their participation.

Entering a Quiet Phase

As we move forward, it's important for our community to be aware that we are now entering a 'quiet phase' of the search process. During this period, DRG will be actively recruiting and screening potential candidates. This phase will last into the new year and is a crucial step in ensuring we find the best possible leader for our school.

While this phase is more internal and less visible, please rest assured that our search is progressing thoughtfully and thoroughly. Your initial input has been instrumental in shaping our search criteria and will continue to guide us in the weeks ahead.

Your continued support and engagement are invaluable to us. Thank you for your commitment to the future of St. Thomas School.

Warm regards,

Rebecca Andrew
