Parent Teacher Student Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences are October 23-26. Signups begin Monday, October 8th at 6:00 a.m.

Parent Teacher Student Conferences are coming up soon! Thursday, October 25th is a no-school conference day; some grades have conferences on October 23rd, 24th, or 26th.

We continue to have division-specific conferences supporting students and parents in the Preschool-8th Grade journey. Conferences are an opportunity for the School and family to work together in support of children's learning. These rich conversations are the cornerstone of the STS Partnership.

Online signups for conferences and complimentary childcare during conference appointments will be available through the Parent Portal starting on Monday, October 8th. Please make sure that you sign up for a childcare time slot separately from a conference with the teacher in order to reserve a spot for your child on Thursday, October 25th. Each conference is twenty minutes long. If you have two or more children at STS, please allow enough time to get from one conference to the next. It may not always work to choose two adjacent conference times if moving across the school.

Please note that there will be no Afternoon Extended Day on Thursday, October 25th; all childcare will end at 4:00 p.m.

In addition to complimentary childcare during conference times, we are offering a limited number of all-day spaces. All-day childcare will run from 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on October 25th for a cost of $75.00. Parents must register and pay for all-day child care online (separate from the Parent-Teacher Conference registration page).

Early Learning Center

The ELC team is excited to meet with parents during our school conferences. This formal conference is a time for parents to learn more about how their child engages in schoolwork. Teachers will share information about children's progress and expectations for ongoing achievement. Parents should bring questions, insights about how their child learns, and hopes for their child's experience in the Early Learning Center.

Home and school collaboration is a goal for ELC conferences. Parents and teachers will discuss social and emotional goals for children as well as strategies to meet the academic challenges of our program. Parents should leave with concrete examples of their child's progress and a feeling of partnership with their child's teachers.

ELC Conferences are for parents and teachers; please sign up for free childcare provided through our Extended Day staff during your scheduled conference time on Thursday, Oct. 25th.

A limited number of full-day childcare openings are also available for Thursday; sign-up and payment are required.

Online signups for conferences and complimentary childcare during conference appointments are available through the Parent Portal starting October 8th. Our October conferences are intentionally held partway through the first trimester. It is an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, share information with the teacher, and see work samples that demonstrate your child’s learning.

Our aim is for you to leave the conference understanding how your children’s strengths will continue to help them meet our high expectations. This will include goals to meet your child’s learning needs.

Sign-ups for conference times as well as childcare will be open on Monday, Oct. 8. Please make sure that you sign up for a childcare time slot separately from a conference with the teacher in order to reserve a spot for your child on Thursday, October 25th.

4th Grade Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences: Students are expected to attend and lead the conference with their parent(s). At the conference, students will share personal expectations they created including key academic, organizational, and/or social goals. This student involvement creates a wonderful opportunity for partnership and for children to recognize that they are empowered and responsible learners. Separate adult conversations can be arranged if needed.

Conferences will include both teachers, Mrs. Jaffe and Mr. Hopker, at the same time. We are excited about the partnership of parents, students, and both core teachers working to celebrate success and establish common goals for students.

Middle School

Middle School conferences are on Thursday, Oct. 25, but additional conferences may be held with key MS faculty who may have extra time on Wednesday, Oct. 24 to meet with parents (see below). Please look for upcoming Advisor’s Monday eNews for more specific guidance as we get closer to the event.

We are running a phased sign-up for MS Conferences. From October 8-12, signups will only be available for Advisory teachers. Signups for all MS teachers will open October 15 at 6:00 a.m.

MS Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences are student-led conferences, so we anticipate that your Middle Schooler will accompany you. At the conference, students will share their personal expectations, including key academic, organizational, and/or social goals. This student involvement creates a wonderful opportunity for partnership and for the child to recognize that they are an empowered and responsible learner. Separate adult conversations may be arranged if needed. If you are not going to have your student participate, please ensure you have emailed your child's Advisor(s) prior to the conference.

Full-Day Childcare

All-day childcare is available Thursday, October 25, 2018 for current STS students during Parent Teacher Conferences. STS will provide lunch and snacks. Childcare starts at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m.

Our sign-up system is designed so only one student name can be signed up per time slot. This does not mean childcare is limited to one STS student per conference time. Siblings, as long as they are St. Thomas School students, can also join childcare. Please note that complimentary childcare is only available during your registered conference time(s).

Fees are $75 per child, due at registration, and are non-refundable. Please note there is no childcare after 4:00 p.m.

Please contact Dave Gifford if you have any questions.
