Raise-the-paddle: Nourishing Our School Community
Our school kitchen and Commons are well-loved, high-traffic spaces—feeding growing students, fueling learning, and hosting the daily rhythms of school life. From lunchtime conversations and division chapels to after-school clubs and student presentations, this shared space supports the academic and social experiences that shape each student’s day.
Like anything that works hard, some of our kitchen equipment has reached the end of its natural lifespan and is ready for a well-earned retirement. And like any space that serves so many purposes, the Commons is ready for a thoughtful refresh.
This year’s Raise-the-Paddle will support the replacement of aging equipment, along with updates to our dining and gathering space so it can better serve students, faculty and staff, parents and guardians, and our guests.
Upgrades include:
- Air conditioning in the Commons and kitchen
- New kitchen equipment including oven, steamer, range and cold/warm storage
- Enhanced lighting
- New curtain that transforms the Commons from kitchen/dining activities to an event space
- Repainting and resurfacing of walls and floors
These improvements will provide a more comfortable dining environment, support the preparation of nutritious meals, and create a flexible space that adapts to collaborative learning and community meetings. A refreshed Commons will continue to serve as a hub for parent association meetings, staff gatherings, town halls, and special events—ensuring that the programs families value have a welcoming and functional home.
Think of this as a “replace, refresh, and renew” moment—honoring what has served our students well while investing in the experiences still to come. When you raise your paddle, you are improving this space for today’s students and for years to come.
